I have lived in Desamparados for more than 30 years. In the past we could experiment a peaceful life. I didn´t see any assault in the streets. It only hapened in the Central of San José. When I studied in the high school, in the worst of the cases people only used mariahuana, so we didn´t listen about other kind of drugs.
However, in the present it is completely different. Something is part of the routine. Everydays we have listened to the news about all the bad things the citizens have had to face. The peace has gone. Especially in the South part of San José, Alajuelita and Desamparados. The drogadiction has been a big problem. The government hasn´t been able to control that. The proliferation of the gangs has become an important problem that not only the government, but also people in general have had to confront. In my case, I have lived near Clinica Marcial Fallas for many years. The other day, The police found a burned body three blocks near my house. Can you imagen, even we are not famliar with this kind of "world", always being affected is a possibility that we fear.
I think that we should make many changes to the future to recover the peace. One of these are in education, laws, more employment, etc.
I live in Barrio Fatima a place I consider nice to live in , however, near Fatima there is a neighborhood called Dos Cercas. some weeks ago was found a car with two dead men inside. This is an example of what you are saying.
