The Pope John Paul II has made history since 1978
by becoming the first non Italian pope in more than 400 years.
Karol Józef Wojtyla was born on May 18, 1920 in Poland. He was a defender for human rights. The
catholic church had used his influence to effect political change. Some experts had credited him with the fall of
communism in his native Poland. Also, he
has been attributed two miracles after dying. He died in Italy in 2005. He has been declared a saint. The official
sainthood ceremony, was held on April 27, 2014.
At this time, I think the catholic church had not had another similar character like
him. In the past people recognized him for his humility, intelligence, for his
capacity for negotiating. Thanks to the
legacy that he had left, humanity had been chosen as an example of solidarity,
and commitment.
